  Ski-ing

Residencia Carmen de la Duquesa in Pinos Genil is only 25 minutes drive from the ski resort of Sierra Nevada with some of the best skiing and snowboarding in Europe available from October to May. It has slopes suitable for all standards of skier

Sierra Nevada defies many concepts associated with skiing. Located at barely a stone’s throw from the Mediterranean coast, it has practically guaranteed sunshine, the best spring snow conditions in Europe and is still reasonably priced compared to many of its European counterparts. As one of Europe's highest resorts it has a typically long season, traditionally opening at the end of November running through to the end of April or even into the first week of May.

Sierra Nevada literally means "Snowy Mountain Range" and includes some of the highest peaks in Europe not to mention the highest concentration of peaks over 3,000m in the country. The Mulhacen at 3,482m is the Iberian Peninsula's highest.

  Other Activities

There is a recently restored footpath providing a gentle walk from Pinos Genil to Granada along the river. There’s also a number of mountain walks for the more energetic. The area is good for cycling (including mountain biking), fishing in the nearby reservoir, paragliding and there is a water park not far away. The beach resort of Motril is 45 minutes drive but when the new motorway is completed in 2010 this will reduce travel time to 30 minutes.
